Bridge collapse on Nottingham tram network extension

Collapsed concrete beam, which was part of a new bridge on Nottingham's tram network extension

An investigation is under way after part of a bridge on Nottingham's tram line extension collapsed during construction.
Work was taking place on the bridge over Fairham Brook in Clifton on Tuesday when the incident happened.
The company involved, Taylor Woodstrom, said a pre-cast concrete beam slid off a temporary bearing and dislodged another beam.
Local residents reported hearing a loud rumbling sound as the slab fell.
A spokesperson for the firm said: "We carry out strict procedures during all installations of this kind and I can confirm that no-one was in danger or injured as a result of the incident.
"An investigation is being carried out and until it is complete no further details will be available."
The £570m project includes the construction of two new lines which will serve Wilford, Clifton, Beeston and Chilwell.
